JOOLA Radius CGS 16 Graphite Pickleball Paddle

The Radius CGS 16 Graphite Paddle from JOOLA Pickleball takes inspiration from JOOLA's expertise in table tennis equipment by bringing a rounded paddle shape to pickleball. The result is an extra-large sweet spot that feels pleasantly reactive no matter where you hit. A textured Carbon Grip Surface (CGS) adds extra spin to your swings with a polymer core that builds control without reducing power.

The Radius CGS 16 features an extra-wide 8.2" face which provides plenty of usable surface area throughout. It weighs in the 7.4 – 7.8 oz. range, making it highly maneuverable and speedy during volley exchanges. The 5" long handle is wrapped in a Sure-Grip style grip including perforations for sweat resistance and ribbing for stable hand placement. The grip has a 4-1/8" circumference, while the 16mm (0.63") thick core minimizes vibrations, allowing for more consistency while mitigating joint irritation and muscle fatigue.

The Radius CGS 16 Graphite Paddle from JOOLA Pickleball offers a pleasantly smooth feel, while retaining great pop and reactivity across its broad face.

Actual grip sizes may vary up to 1/8".

When this paddle comes out of the box. It is one of the most favorite paddles I have ever played with. However, after 3-5 months of usage. The neck seems to break. This has happened to me and other friends who play with this paddle. Great paddle, excellent touch, and feel. However, the durability of it is a big question mark for me. Therefore, I will no longer play this paddle going forward.

I love the shape and the table-tennis-like feel to to the paddle, but it's just too underpowered for me, even with lead tape.

Really nice balance, feel, but lacks power. Even with some lead tape. However, the touch is amazing

  • A good dinking and blocking paddle

The Radius is consistent for dinks and blocks, but lacks power for many tasks at its natural weight. Serves and topspin drives require extra effort to generate much power. Hitting third balls requires extra attention to followthrough. Transition zone resetting requires conscious effort to push the ball, both as volleys and half-volleys. The ping pong inspired shape, with 8.2" width and 15.8" length, doesn't depart much from traditional paddle style. The 5" handle is longer than needed for true ping pong grip. The CGS surface impartsadequate spin, but noticeably less spin than does the CFS surface. The sweet spot is large, but not edge to edge.

If you like to put a lot of spin on the ball, this is the paddle without sacrificing power. From the first day I used you could definitely tell a difference. Also, I felt I had more control of my shots. The sweet spot isn’t as advertised but pretty darn close. Super stoked.

I am able to control and direct my shots. Also, I have enough power on my shots. I have only been playing with this paddle for a short time and I am still getting used to this paddle.

  • “Edge to edge sweet spot” is a lot of hype.

I am always looking for a paddle that provides a lot of touch and control. I am a strong 4.0 tournament player that has been playing for over 6-years. My eyesight, and/or hand-eye coordination may not be the best, because I tend to miss-hit the ball a fair amount of the time. So, I have always been on the lookout for a paddle that can provide a very large sweet spot. So while the hype of edge to edge sweet spot is not at all true, this paddle does provide the largest sweet spot I have found so far. The touch and control is phenomenal. While my eyesight and coordination have not changed, my game has improved using the Joola Raduis. I feel much more confident and consistent. The carbon grip surface provides a nice added benefit. Roll shots and slices become much more effective. I thought I was purchasing this paddle with the intent to return it before 30-days, but that is not the case. I can’t wait to get back out on the court everyday with this paddle.
