Middleweight/Small Grip

Honolulu Sword & Shield J2NF 16mm Pickleball Paddle

For aggressive all-court players who want a quick, decisive response from a hybrid shape, the Honolulu Sword & Shield J2NF 5.5in Handle Pickleball Paddle uses a 16.2in x 7.8in Aero Hybrid Plus profile to balance reach, face width, and hand speed. The 7.8in face gives us a confident hitting area for blocks and counters, while the added length creates useful leverage on serves, drives, and transition attacks. With the 5.5in handle, it stays compact enough to move quickly through hand battles while still leaving useful room for a two-handed backhand. That combination makes the J2NF easy to trust when we want to attack without committing to the longer feel of an elongated paddle.

The J2NF combines Honolulu’s Gen. 4.5 multi-density, all-foam floating and pivoting core with EPP interlaced with EVA perimeter foam, a CFC carbon fiber, fiberglass, carbon fiber face, and Connected Reflex Technology™. Honolulu positions it as the firmer Sword & Shield option, and that direct response is what separates it for us. Counters and speed-ups leave the face quickly, drives feel assertive through contact, and the 16mm foam platform keeps enough stability behind blocks and resets. Honolulu also reports a .434 result in USAP PBCoR testing, reinforcing its high-output intent. Compared with the softer J2FC+, choose the J2NF for firmer feedback and quicker release. Compared with the J2CR, its identity comes from the CFC face and firm response rather than the Crystal Blue surface and its specialized spin focus.

+ Key Features
  • CFC Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass, Carbon Fiber Face - Layered face construction supports the firm, direct response that makes counters, drives, and speed-ups feel immediate.
  • Gen. 4.5 Multi-Density All-Foam Core - EPP interlaced with EVA perimeter foam creates a broad sweet spot and helps keep contact stable when we miss the center of the face.
  • Connected Reflex Technology™ - Works with the foam platform to produce the smooth, predictable response Honolulu targets across offensive and defensive shots.
  • .434 PBCoR Test Result - Honolulu reports a .434 result in USAP PBCoR testing, supporting the high-output response we feel when accelerating through drives, counters, and put-away balls.
  • 16.2in x 7.8in Aero Hybrid Plus Shape - Combines useful reach with enough width to stay confident during blocks, counters, and rapid doubles exchanges.

Expert Review
"The J2NF is the firmer option among the Honolulu hybrids we carry. We like how quickly it responds on counters and drives, but the 7.8in face still gives us enough stability when the point gets messy."

Frequently Asked Questions

+ What is the difference between the Sword & Shield J2NF and J2FC+?
They share the same 16.2in x 7.8in shape, 16mm foam core, 5.5in handle, 110 - 114 swing weight, and twist weight of 7. The main difference is response. Honolulu describes the J2NF as firm and predictable, while the J2FC+ adds dwell time and a softer, plusher feel.
+ Who should choose the J2NF instead of the J2FC+?
Choose the J2NF if you prefer crisp feedback and a faster release on counters, speed-ups, and drives. If you want more pocketing and a softer sensation on resets, drops, and blocks, the J2FC+ is the better fit.
+ How does the J2NF compare with the J2CR Crystal Blue?
Both measure 16.2in x 7.8in and use 16mm multi-density foam platforms. The J2CR adds Crystal Blue™ Endurance Surface™ with Blue Grit™ and makes surface-driven spin a major part of its performance story. The J2NF instead uses a CFC carbon fiber, fiberglass, carbon fiber face and emphasizes a firmer, more direct response.
+ How does the J2NF fit against the J3CR and J6CR?
The J3CR is shorter and wider at 16in x 8in, making it the most compact shape of the group. The J6CR is longer and narrower at 16.48in x 7.52in for more reach and leverage. The J2NF sits between them with a 16.2in x 7.8in hybrid footprint that balances both traits.
+ Does the J2NF still generate spin without the Crystal Blue surface?
Yes. Honolulu positions the J2NF as a power, spin, and control paddle. We would not make the same specialized surface-spin claims used for Crystal Blue, but spin remains part of the J2NF’s intended all-court performance.
