Textured carbon fiber face and three-layer core to balance power with vibration dampening and a controllable feel.

Diadem ICON V2 Textured Carbon Fiber Pickleball Paddle

Completely redesigned with plenty of new technology, the Diadem Icon V2 Carbon Fiber Paddle makes key upgrades to the classic Icon V1 to provide you with exceptional control and enough power on demand to win points. Diadem put their multi-layer 3XL core, made popular by the Warrior Paddle, into this 13.7mm (0.539") thick paddle to provide ample touch and noticeable vibration dampening. This core uses a single layer of proprietary dampening material sandwiched between two polypropylene honeycomb layers to feel soft and controllable without sacrificing too much power.

Despite all of the new technology in the Icon V2, it retains the trusted Japanese carbon fiber face material with an updated RP2 coating. This carbon fiber face with added texture allows the ball to linger on the face longer, encouraging you to hit precise cut shots and controlled-yet-powerful drives from the baseline. The injected foam around the molded edge of this paddle expands the sweet spot from edge to edge of the 10.75" by 7.6" hitting surface, while the edge guard, which is replaceable with the Diadem Icon V2 Edge Guard Kit, ensures your paddle is protected and will look fresh throughout the tournament season. Finally, a 5.25" long handle adorned with a Diadem Comfort Max grip ensures you can really get the 8oz weight of this paddle moving on point-wining slams.

A proprietary core backs up reliable carbon performance in the Icon V2 Carbon Fiber Paddle from Diadem Pickleball. This combination provides you with a balance of touch, feel, and vibration dampening with enough power to keep you on top of the game.

Reviews of the Icon V2 Paddle by Pickleball Central Staff:

"As both a fan and critic of the original Diadem Icon, I was anxiously awaiting my chance to see what Diadem had in store for the V2. The first thing to note is a slightly thicker build at 13.7mm (compared to the original at 12mm), but fortunately the edgeless design keeps the paddle feeling almost as nimble as its predecessor. The tiny tradeoff in maneuverability was well worth the performance enhancements from the 3-layer "3xL" core that expands the sweet spot significantly and dampens the harsh feel most blade paddles have, without sacrificing much power at all. Diadem took a new direction for spin on the V2 with their "RP2" texture that, for me, produced more than enough RPMs to balance out the paddle's power and shape my drives downward into the court. While I do sometimes miss the extremely sharp and nimble connection I had with my original Icon, my arm and soft game appreciate the balanced construction of the V2 that keeps enough of its predecessor's powerful blade personality to make me fall in love with the Icon all over again."

Light but a good feel, with a great handle with a tackiness that I like. I can control the ball better with the pickleball paddle surface. So far I am pretty happy with this paddle.

I've owned the first version for a long time now, but I do have a few different paddles that I'll play around with or let friends borrow. The first version of the Icon paddle is unique in that the surface is rubbery like. It plays very well in my opinions. I couldn't figure this paddle out, it seems to be about above average in all categories, but not excellent, except in maneuverability. This feels more like a typical fine grit paddle. Maybe I'll like this paddle more if I add some lead tape to it. As of now I like the first version better.
