adidas Metalbone Carbon Fiber & Foam Core Pickleball Paddle

Resulting from massing investments in research and development, and built with thoughtful precision, the adidas Metalbone Pickleball Paddle thrives in the hand of capable pickleball players who aren't afraid to experiment. While this paddle is packed with features, two of them really jump out at us. First, the 13mm (0.51") thick PMI structural foam core. This unique core skips the polypropylene and instead creates a structure with PMI foam. Often used in aerospace applications, this closed-cell foam is extremely rigid and lightweight, allowing it to return ample energy to the ball for impressive power in high-energy shots. Second is adidas' Weight & Balance System which allows the players to customize the static weight, swing weight, twist weight, and balance point of the paddle; adapted from adidas' Padel technology, and a first from any major pickleball manufacturer! Consisting of 4 screws, each weighing 2.6 grams (10.4g total), and removable with the included allen key-tipped keychain, this system allows you to add or remove up to 0.367 ounces from the neck area of the paddle where most players put lead tape anyway. Leaving the screws in shifts the balance point closer to the hand, resulting in better control and a maneuverable head-light feel. Removing the screws shifts the balance point further away from the hand, resulting in more power-oriented performance.

Structural reinforcement is provided by perimeter carbon, extending from the end of the handle up the sides of the paddle, creating tortional stability and resulting in an aerodynamic edgeless design. The face of the Metalbone Pickleball Paddle is comprised of C18 Carbon Fiber treated with adidas' Spin Blade Max surface texturing, resulting in a paddle which is forgiving of off-center strikes, and promotes fantastic spin on your cuts, slices, and topspin drives. The proportions of the Metalbone are familiar, with an overall length of 16.5", width of 7.5", handle length of 5.5" for two-handed shots, and handle circumference of 4-1/8". The handle arrives wrapped in a perforated non-slip wrap with an EVA layer to promote a secure grip.

With the Metalbone Pickleball Paddle, adidas adapts their proven engineering breakthroughs applied to their Padel products, and introduces them to the world of pickleball.

Actual grip sizes may vary up to 1/8"

His racket I’ve had for a couple of days it got a couple of little tiny dings on the outside of the other the face towards the edge. It does not have any of the pop or expectations that I thought it would. He is not a bad paddle, but I was very disappointed for the price it is not worth it, it does have a distinctive sound and it always sounds like you’re not hitting it on the spot or doesn’t feel like it. It is good for ding and close to the net, but it lacks the power when you even when you wind up you have to hit it hard to get power out of it . It needs some engineering work the spot where the screws go doesn’t really make any difference I am going to return it.

Love my Adidas Metalbone paddle so much that I now have two of them. I did up the weight where I prefer it for over head smashes and roll volleys. Very stable and firm with little break in period. I am enjoying every drill, game and everything in between. I get plenty of controlled spin, speed ups and touches. Count me in for a happy owner of this paddle

This is an extremely expensive paddle that does not have anything to offer. Sweet spot is non existent, there is no spin, and the weight distribution mechanism is awful. ***PBC Response*** Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! • This paddle is revolutionary

I own a company that sponsors players and tests equipment. Of all the paddles released this year, no other paddle compares to the Metalbone in regard to being a revolutionary paddle. Personally I expected the paddle to have a bit more pop but I prefer the poppiest paddle on the market and thought the Metalbone would have equal or greater pop to that of the Black Ace XF. For that reason alone I would rate the paddle at 4.85/5. If you are an advanced player with plenty of power and prefer a control paddle that is customizable like no other paddle on the market, buy a Metalbone if you get the chance.
