Engage Pursuit SX Pickleball PaddleThe Pursuit SX Graphite Paddle maxes out usable surface area, and brings a short handle option to the top-selling Pursuit line of paddles. The SX hearkens back to one of the first short-handled paddles on the market, the old Engage Encore GP. The difference here is the added control of the exposed graphite face and soft "ControlPro Black" polymer core material in use across the Pursuit model line. Place the ball where you want it to go, and keep your oversized paddle up and ready for the inevitable block or reset. The 0.5" (13mm) core and longer-than-average 16.25" overall length translate to adequate pop off the Pursuit SX, as well.
At 16.25" long by 7.75" wide, with a stubby 4" long handle, the Pursuit SX is ideal for players who utilize the "finger up" grip style, or simply those with smaller hands. Offered in three weight range options, spanning 7.1 to 8.3 oz., there's sure to be a perfect fit for you; just check our Tech Specs for full weight range details before making your selection.
This oversized paddle shape is great for those coming from table tennis, or players who prioritize defense while still wishing to retain enough power to capitalize on opportunities to put one past their opponents.

I had been using the Gamma RZR and was very pleased with it, but I use a 1 finger up ping pong grip and wanted to try a shorter handle, longer hitting surface. The composition of the Engage SX is similar to the RZR. The SX did play similar and I probably would have been happy with it, but the overall balance of the RZR better fits my game. I returned the SX and am glad I tried it because it renewed my satisfaction with the RZR. Unfortunately I don’t think they’re making the RZR anymore and I know several players who are buying an extra while they’re still available.

I recently purchased the 1/2 inch version after playing with the 5/8 thicker version for a while. Found that the 1/2 inch version has more pop to it and is not as soft a feel as the 5/8 inch version. But I love both paddles and will use them interchangeably during recreational and tournament play. Thank you Engage for coming out with this shorter handle design!
