Choosing The Best Balls for Pickleball
Pickleballs are hollow plastic balls with holes. Balls are categorized as either
indoor or
outdoor. Indoor pickleballs typically have larger holes since wind isn't as much a factor. Outdoor pickleballs are made of a harder plastic for durability on harder surfaces, and have smaller holes. The USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) approves balls for pickleball. All the balls we sell are approved by the USA Pickleball Association, unless specifically noted. We stock a couple non-approved models for special applications like low noise, indoor practice, and specialty skills development.
Colors of Pickleball
The most popular outdoor ball color is the yellow. The most popular indoor ball color is green. The key on ball color is learning what color will most stand out on your court. You want to see the ball. We also offer some really interestingly colored pickleballs including pink, midnight blue, black, and even two-colored balls! Sometimes its nice to have different colored pickleballs in your bag when you play at a court. It helps you keep track of which balls are yours vs. others playing in adjacent courts.
How Do I Know Which Pickleball Balls Are Right For me?
If you're new to pickleball and going to be joining a pickleball group, we recommend first finding out what type and color of ball the group most enjoys. Pickleballers are passionate about their balls. You don't want to show up on the courts with the "wrong" ball. Some prefer balls that are harder, some softer. Some prefer balls with larger holes, and some smaller. Still want to learn more about balls? Visit our
