Vulcan V550 Hybrid Pickleball Paddle

The Vulcan V550 Hybrid Pickleball Paddle is long enough to allow for easy court coverage but avoids a heavy construction so that you won't feel slow at the net. The elongated design is great for both attacking and defense with a higher-positioned sweet spot on the face. The tapered bottom makes the paddle easy to handle and creates a forward-weighted feel which will support shot follow through.

The Vulcan V550 Hybrid Pickleball Paddle weighs an average of 7.9 oz which will give you the needed strength for put aways without tiring your arm. The handle is 4-1/2" long with a medium grip circumference that is pleasantly cushioned. The polypropylene core adds strength to every hit while the carbon fiber face ensures control. Multicolored swirls surround a pinpoint of light on the paddle's face with Vulcan's logo and the paddle name in the lower right.

The Vulcan V550 Hybrid Pickleball Paddle offers extra reach with a balanced touch that lets you outmaneuver opponents.

Actual grip sizes may vary up to 1/8"

Reviews of the Vulcan V550 Hybrid Graphite Pickleball Paddle by Pickleball Central Staff:

"As I have said before, Vulcan knows grips. Such a soft comfortable feel when you pick up the paddle. And for tennis players entering the sport, or others who prefer a blade shaped, longer (head biased balance) paddle, the V550 is a great addition to the game. It is definitely my favorite Vulcan model. The extra length makes up for some of my lack of wing span. Being able to get a paddle on those soft lobs before they get over my head was a real plus. The paddle has a more traditional length grip, so it feels good in the hand. When I occasionally put a second hand on the grip for a backhand there was plenty of room. The sweet spot is definitely up the paddle face (almost centered on the white circle on the face), but it does not feel overly head heavy. There are blades on the market that have more power, however the V550 is easier to control than most. And when the opportunity arose, I found enough power to put a high ball away. If you are investigating the longer shapes, the V550 should definitely be on your list."
John - Sales (4.0 Player)

"Having just finished testing both the Vulcan V510 and V550, I can tell you these are two different shaped paddles really designed for different types of players. The V550 is a longer (almost 17") mid-weight (around 8 ounce) paddle with it's center of mass higher up the face. The paddle's balance is higher up the face, and for stronger athletes it helps you generate incredible power. The sweet spot is focused, and consistent. Like almost every teardrop shaped blade style paddle, it rewards you when you play the ball higher up the face than traditional wide-body paddles. The poly core/graphite face combination gives good ball feel, which enabled me to dial in my drops. I struggle with all blade shaped paddles in defensive volleys and fast kitchen exchanges due to the smaller higher sweet spots and head biased weight, but this paddle gave me great confidence with drops & dinks so I felt confident on the court. This paddle is perfect for players who are seeking a longer blade style shape for power oriented play, to help with reach, or for singles play."
Edward - Marketing (3.5 Player)

"The V550 is a performance paddle designed for more advanced players looking for an elongated shape with more reach and a little more power as a function of shape and weighting. The Vulcan V550, like the V510, uses Vulcan’s Hybrid technology to produce a paddle with exceptional balance between power and control. More controlled and slightly softer than some competing elongated paddles but with plenty of power for baseline shots and overheads. Like other Vulcan paddles tested the V550 feels solid and well built. As an elongated and narrower paddle the sweet spot size is narrower and in the V550 focused more toward the head of the paddle away from the handle which is desirable for power strokes. This paddle is likely best suited for attacking players, singles players and those who have a bit more consistent stroke."

Test Reviews of the Vulcan V550 Hybrid Paddle

"Since I'd already used an elongated paddle, I found adjusting to the Vulcan V550 very easy. I'm consistently generating more speed and spin, yet my dink game has improved too since I can hit short shorts with minimal movement while retaining touch. The V550 is also more head weighted than my previous paddle, which I prefer, yet it has not been a factor on rapid exchanges at the net. The grip is sensational and seems highly resistant to sweat. A number of other 3.0 and 3.5 players have tried this paddle. The 3.0 players struggled with the head weighting and the higher sweet spot. The 3.5s were more mixed–some adapted rapidly and loved the paddle, others could not adapt to the higher sweet spot. At least two of our players ordered this paddle after playing with it. The Vulcan V550 is well made with solid construction. I expect it to hold up well."

Very disappointed, The paddle was a Christmas gift and greatly anticipated. I played with the paddle on Wednesday after Christmas and was very disappointed in the cheap and thin grip of this paddle. You can feel the “bones” of the paddle right through this thin, slick grip material. For the price of the paddle and the reputation of this company I am shocked at the quality of the grip and material used. ***PBC Response*** Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! Loved the way it played but unfortunately the paddle chipped almost immediately. Sent first paddle back second one arrived with chip on face, sent that one back 3rd paddle face began chipping after 2nd time i played with it. I do not recommend this paddle because it could be better constructed and sealed at edges.

This is the third Vulcan paddle I have purchased. Since I play five to six days a week I buy an new paddle every year. The longer length of the V550 helps with my overhead shots. The paddle is fairly light, well balanced and has a good grip length. I am a 3.0-3.5 player.

I don't know a thing about pickle ball except that my adult sons are getting in to it. Shopping was so easy on this site and my son who received the paddle says its just what he wanted and needed as he is new to the sport.

I'm a newbie to pickleball but have a history of playing racquet sports so transition going well. This paddle isy first purchase as i've been borrowing paddles for 6 weeks. I'm very happy so far with this paddle, size, grip, balance and weight. The sale price and design attracted my interest. So far so good!
